Distance Deliver of Courses
Fort Peck Community College online learning allows for students to take courses entirely online. Fort Peck Community College offers programs fully online, allowing students to interact with students across the United States.
Fort Peck Community College utilizes Canvas as the Learner Management System to deliver classes online. Online courses are classified into three categories: synchronous, asynchronous, and polysynchronous. Students will need a computer, web browser, and connection to the internet to take online course
Synchronous Learning happens in real-time. Synchronous learning brings the class together in a virtual classroom. Fort Peck Community College utilizes Zoom video conferencing to bring students together in a synchronous virtual classroom. Synchronous learning creates an environment t for real-time collaboration and discussion. This model also imitates an in-person classroom and schedule course times are listed on the course schedule
Asynchronous Learning is a less structured environment, allowing students to complete their coursework online without the restriction of being in class at a specific time. Asynchronous learning allows more freedom to the students to manage their time and work schedules. Asynchronous learning at Fort Peck Community College provides student and instructor engagement, and feedback is still shared with the flexibility to the student. There will be no scheduled course times.
Polysynchronous learning incorporates learning opportunities with contemporary online learning technologies. At Fort Peck Community College, polysynchronous education is a blend of asynchronous and synchronous online learning. This learning model has been the preferred model of Fort Peck Community College, and the college is committed to every student's success. There will be scheduled course times. Students unable to participate the synchronous lessons will be allowed to view the recorded activity for continued participation in the course.
FPCC Is committed to provided quality education for students near and far. All courses listed on the schedule as Asynchronous will not have scheduled times for the class to meet. Synchronous or polychromous courses will have scheduled course times however, students unable to participate the synchronous lessons will be allowed to view the recorded activity for continued participation in the course.
Continuing Education Units (CEU)
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) is a nationally recognized system used to record participation in noncredit professional education courses, programs and other activities. Requests for these courses and activities can come from anyone: Students, faculty, local businesses, Tribal government, Tribal programs, community members, clubs, federal, state and local governments or any other interested party.
While these non-credit courses and activities generally only require the payment of a small fee, at the discretion of the instructor, college credit may be offered as an option. Additional obligations (e.g., a written assignment) outside of the specific activity will be required. In this case, both tuition and fees may be charged.
CEU’s are offered intermittently throughout the academic year and provide an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of subject matter outside of the normal college curriculum.
