Truck Driving

The Truck Driving program is designed to provide students with applicable, practical knowledge of the trucking and commercial passenger industries, including requisite laws, regulations, operator qualifications, preventative maintenance, controls, and essential operational experiences/skills. Successful students will be well prepared to pass the necessary state licensure exams to attain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Occupational Objective: Entry-level truck driving jobs within the truck driving industry, attaining and having a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) can also be a requirement of many other industry jobs and management positions.

Degree Requirements

Students enrolling in the program are required to pass the drug test, and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the standards of the industry and of the Federal Motor Carriers Regulations.
  • Apply to practical use, knowledge learned of basic vehicle construction and vehicle systems.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection on the vehicle before driving.
  • Understand the importance of safety and demonstrate safety while on the road.
  • Learner’s Permit completed in the 1st 8 weeks of the semester.
  • FPCC will pay the Driver’s License Fee one time ONLY.

All applicants are required to:

  • Provide a copy of a current valid MT driver’s license.
  • Provide a copy of a physical examination on a DOT form.
  • Students pass a drug screen when administered.
