The State of Montana recognizes the HiSET and GED exams as approved high school equivalency assessments. FPCC administers the HiSET exam as its high school equivalency testing program.
For questions about HiSET scores, or to request a copy of a transcript or diploma, candidates should visit the DiplomaSender website and use the chat function for assistance. The Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) has partnered with DiplomaSender as the official provider of High School Equivalency (HSE) transcripts and diploma records.

FPCC has been designated as a computer-based HiSET testing site by the State of Montana. Testing is offered monthly at the James E. Shanley Library in Poplar, MT. In addition, prospective test takers may receive tutoring and information in the HiSET classroom located in the War Eagle Vision Building in Poplar, MT.
The cost of the HiSET exam is based on individual subtests. Beginning July 1, 2026, each subtest will cost $18 (or $90 for the full battery of five tests). FPCC may also assess a $5 local testing center fee per testing session. The full battery purchase includes up to two retakes on subtests not passed within a one-year period.
HiSET allows up to six attempts per subject area, each calendar year, with a waiting period after the first three attempts.
To take the HiSET exam, individuals must:
1. Register online at https://hiset.org/montana/ and pay by credit card in advance. If a candidate does not have access to a credit card, FPCC accepts money orders made payable to FPCC. Assistance with registration is available at FPCC.
2. Complete registration at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled test date. Testing dates are posted on the official HiSET website.
