NASX 236 Native American Governments

This course will examine the traditional, transitional, and contemporary tribal government organizations and how they function. Topics include leadership, political systems, structures, powers, sovereignty, self-determination, and intergovernmental relationships between tribal, federal, and state governments. Emphasis will be given to the historical development of the fort peck Nakona and Dakota tribal government, including historical changes, political development, and contemporary issues.
